It doesn’t usually cost that much.

The functions of editing software vary depending on the type, but they have a few basics in common. Usually, the ability to merge one photo with another, in a more or less sophisticated manner, is a staple. This is often referred to as ‘photoshopping’, and is what people are talking about when they complain that people in magazines don’t look real, and must have been altered.

You can also use photo editing software to create things like holiday cards, or decorative images. The addition of colorful, seasonal borders around a photo that can then be printed as one single image is a popular thing to do around the holidays. Artistic blurring tools and the ability to turn a color photo into a black and white photo are also popular.

If you have a computer, you should have photo editing software. It’s a great deal of fun, and can be used in many different manners to increase the creativity of your photos and other artistic endeavors.
