postheadericon Reviewing the Canon EOS 1000D

Loosing a daughter made me the saddest person in the world. Oh, not because I just lost a daughter. Of the 200 photographs I’d taken at the wedding and reception after only a handful were decent enough to keep as the rest were blurred out of existence

I needed a new camera so I went to Amazon and bought a Canon eos 1000D. There’s no comparison between these two cameras as the Kodak had to be less than 10 ft to take a decent pic but the new Canon gets shots 50ft away with its auto-focus lens.

I also found the Canon light and easy to operate considering how long I’d had the Kodak. Once I got the Canon out of the box I had to rummage for the manual which I sat and read before I started snapping away like mad.

The camera comes with an “Optical Image Stabilized” kit lens which lets you take pictures through 18mm to 55mm which is great. I could keep snapping away for ever as I’ve already taken 400 shots and the power level hasn’t really dropped that much. Once you take the Canon out of the box the battery needs a good 2 hours to give it a head start but after that it just needs an hour or two.

I always found it fiddly when it came to re-charging the Kodak’s 4 AA batteries but now its easier with Canons single battery. It makes life a lot easier when all you have to do is lift the lid and plonk the battery inside. The bigger the memory card in the camera the more photos you can take.

It doesn’t matter how bad your photos are because you can reproduce them with the software that comes with the camera kit.

Do you know how to shoot a decent photo, well if not how about ordering a “How Too” Canon book. Not only did the “Canon eos 1000D for Dummies” tell me how to take better photos it also told me how the camera works more easily than the manual did.

To say the Canon is easy to use and takes great pictures is an under statement. With the autofocus on there isn’t any chance of the picture coming out blurred. Posters are not the sort of thing I would have thought of doing with my Canon but if it can do that what else can it do.

I always think its a daunting task to connect anything strange to a computer for the first time until I attached the Canon and straight away it registered the connection. Once I entered the software I connected the Canon via the USB lead and we were in business right away. It just materialized right in front of my eyes.

Take it from me this is the best camera for the novice on the market today and I’d urge anyone thinking of purchasing a SLR to get this one if possible.
