Listening to the radio is a practice we commonly see from our parents and grandparents. There are generally three types of radio sets or receivers, namely, DAB Digital radios, clock radios and portable radios. The first kind of radio set is the DAB Digital radio. DAB or Digital Audio broadcasting digital radios are touted as the future of radio broadcasting due to the increase in the number of main stream stations going digital as well as a number a new stations appearing every now and then. This type of radio set uses digital signals that are broadcasted as groups of data known as multiplexes. Each of these multiplexes includes a number of stations which are then transmitted to different frequencies and are eventually decoded by DAB radios. DAB radios offer great sound quality and variety of choices. Stations in this kind of radio set are also easier to find and can give access to more information.

Clock radio sets on the other hand are a type of radio that allows the listeners to set up a time when to broadcast a specific radio station. These radio sets are perfect for those who want to awaken by the sound of their favorite radio station rather than the sound of an alarm clock. Clock radio sets come in various models listeners may choose from. Examples of these are DAB digital clock radios and CD clock radios that feature a function that allows the user to select how he/she would want to be awaken by the radio set. Finally are portable radio sets. These types of radio are very popular across all age groups as they are small, lightweight, and of course, portable. These radio sets come with headphone sockets that allow the user to listen to it anytime and anywhere without disturbing anyone else. Portable radios today also come in various styles listeners from any age group may choose from.

Choosing which type of radio set can be a bit difficult but is definitely not impossible. In choosing one needs to carefully scrutinize the sound quality, features, designs and warranty of the radio set. Budget is also an important consideration as one has to decide how much he/she is willing to shell out to buy a radio set. No matter which type you buy, being satisfied with what you chose is still the most important.
