Experience Home Entertainment Like Never Before With The Best Blu Ray Movies

A few years ago there was a format war between the blu ray disc and HD DVD for which would be the optical disc for high definition films. And the blu ray finally won out in 2008 so until recently many film companies had not released a full catalogue of blu ray movies.This is changing now, and more and more titles are being released everyday, so if you were unsure before whether to actually get a blu ray player, now is the time to think about it.
Obviously to watch movies in this format properly you also need to have a television with HD capabilities. But if you already do own a HD TV and a blu ray player or a Playstation 3, which is capable of playing the discs, you are ready to watch films at home like you have never seen them before.
At the moment every new movie, and television shows and concerts for that matter, are coming out on blu rays, but many films should be on the top of your list if you are thinking about having a home collection. Or if you are just looking for titles to rent, these are certainly ones to consider.
Okay, first of all if you are into movie classics, some of those released recently on blu rays are the best versions of the movies you will ever see. Casablanca may have been released 70 years ago, but the ultimate collector’s edition will let you see the movie in a quality like you never have before. Granted it can’t compare in visual quality to anything released lately but if you are a fan you will immediately see the jump in quality.
Likewise with the special edition of Gone With The Wind, celebrating its 70th anniversary. The original print has been fully remastered by Warner Bros for this release, and if you have seen the DVD released a few years ago, you will undoubtedly be amazed by how good it looks. It is a completely new experience no matter how many times you have seen it.
The third film over seventy years old now and worth being part of your collection is The Wizard Of Oz. What they have managed to achieve in the remastering is actually quite remarkable and it almost looks like it was made today.
But is releases like The Lord of The Rings trilogy that blu ray was designed to showcase. A spectacular film in whatever format you watch it in, this fully remastered high definition collection is the best way to see this classic trilogy directed by Peter Jackson again.
James Cameron’s Avatar is another incredible feast of visual effects, and in full HD it is simply amazing. If ever there was a movie to show off just how good blu rays look, this is the one, and it is one title that may make you think about buying a player just for it.
But there are so many blu ray movies that could be in your collection. There are a few new super hero movies like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight or Ironman that are fantastic buys. The blu rays show off the effects incredibly and they all have excellent special features. As do movies like the Toy Story trilogy, Wall-e and Up, and in fact any of the Pixar animated classics should be in your collection.
