Digital photo frames are so much fun that you should buy one today. Anyone who likes photographs or photography should know that the latest digital photo frames will show off your photographs at their very best. Image quality is great and you will be very impressed.

However before you buy a digital picture frame there are some minimum requirements that you need to check for the photo frame you are thinking of buying.

You Always Need High Resolution Now

To get a clear, crisp and brightly lit image to show your photos at their best you must look closely at the resolution of the display screen that the photo frame uses. Digital picture frames use a Liquid Crystal Display. These are just like those used in flat panel televisions, but on a smaller scale.

Do not select any digital frame that has a low resolution specification. The resolution of the display is so important when it comes to viewing a quality image.

A range of resolutions are available today and you must make sure you get a resolution of 640×480 or above to get a good image. A 800×600 resolution would be even better, but more expensive. Do not buy a frame with a resolution below this minimum as you will be disappointed with the results.

If you are looking at the bigger sized LCD displays from 11 inches upwards then get the highest resolution that your wallet will allow. High resolution means sharp images and that is what you want. All cheaper frames are likely to have a lower resolution, so check their specifications carefully.

Do Not Forget Aspect Ratio As It Is Important

Two aspect ratios that describe the shape of you image are available for digital photo frames and these are 4:3 and 15:9, with the 4:3 being the ratio for most images taken with todays point and shoot digital cameras.

Therefore a digital picture frame with a 4:3 aspect ratio will most likely display your photos the best in their original form. However a frame displaying the 15:9 ratio will give you a more impressive wide-screen image just like a mini TV.

The major problem with this is that any screen with a 15:9 display will remove the bottom and the top of each image it displays that comes from a 4:3 photo and not everyone will like this.

Always Check For A Memory Card Slot

Make sure the digital photo frame you are thinking of buying accepts the same memory card that you use in your digital camera. Some frames have a multi-card reader, which means they can take several different types of memory card in the same slot, although only one at a time.

You Are Going To Need A USB Port Too

If you want to transfer photos or other images directly from your personal computer or digital camera using a standard USB cable then the photo frame must have a USB slot. This is important for some people, but if you are happy just using memory cards then you will not need this option.

More Additional Options For You To Consider.

Actually there are quite a few additional options that you might want to consider, including remote controls, speakers, headphones, alarm clocks and a local wifi facility for connecting to the internet for images etc. You will have to pay more for these options and this may be the deciding factor in your purchase.

Use the recommendations made to you above to get a great deal on a good quality digital photo frame, which will display the sharpest images for what you can afford, and just ignore the company labels as these should not be relevant when making your choice.
