Some compression levels need to be used before the images are stored in JPEG formats. There are two main levels of compression. Fine compression ensures that the image size is reduced and high JPEG quality maintained in the image. Images are reduced to small sizes using standard compression. This level reduces images to low quality in order to create more space for saving images. Images can be saved in the RAW format.

The aim for advanced features in this camera is to enhance the look of pictures. It has two settings on sensitivity. These settings allow you to keep details of images taken in any surrounding. Lo80 is a sensitivity setting that allows you to retain the information of photo shot in dark places. It prevents loss of information in the shadows. To retain information in highlights, the Hi200 sensitivity setting is commonly used.

It uses a Minolta A type mount lens. The device has noise reduction technology that reduces noise depending with the settings. You can use the eye-start AF that senses the presence of the user through the proximity sensor. The camera has an anti-blur feature. It has anti-dust characteristic that ensures build up dust due to static electricity is reduced.

Many options are provided when using this model. It has buttons that help you reset the cameras default options. You can replay, delete or print dates using the buttons. You can format your camera and create space for storing more images.

Sony A100 comes with a rechargeable battery. The battery is fully charged within four hours. If the memory is full you can install an external memory in the memory card slot. You can connect the camera to a USB port or video connection using the dual use connection.
